Two Quranic supplications for children and family are Ibrahim's request for himself and his descendants to establish prayer in Quran 14:40, and the request for a righteous family in Quran 25:74. Both turn a parent's hopes towards Allah. Learn their wording and meaning without attaching a promised outcome or an invented repetition count.

What is Ibrahim's dua for prayer?

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

Pronunciation aid: Rabbij'alni muqimas-salati wa min dhurriyyati, Rabbana wa taqabbal du'a.

Plain meaning: My Lord, make me someone who establishes prayer, and from my descendants too. Our Lord, accept my supplication.

The source is Quran 14:40, part of Ibrahim's supplication. Notice that he asks for himself as well as his descendants. A parent can learn that wording while also attending to their own prayer and example.

What is the dua for a righteous family?

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Pronunciation aid: Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama.

Plain meaning: Our Lord, grant us spouses and descendants who bring joy to our eyes, and make us an example for those who are mindful of You.

This supplication appears within Quran 25:74. The verse describes people asking Allah for a righteous family and to be examples for the God-conscious. The short English meaning explains the request; it is not a word-for-word pronunciation guide.

How can you learn the duas without rushing?

Choose one supplication first. Read its meaning, listen while following the Arabic, and ask a teacher to model a manageable phrase. Repeat the phrase accurately before connecting it to the next one.

The words dhurriyyati and dhurriyyatina may need particular attention if the Arabic sound represented by dh is unfamiliar. Roman letters cannot show every feature of Arabic pronunciation. Let the teacher hear the word rather than trying to solve it from the spelling alone.

Keep the Quran references with your learning notes so that you can return to the complete passages.

What should you tell children about these duas?

Use a plain explanation: “I am asking Allah to help our family do good and keep up prayer.” A child does not need to carry the weight of a parent's anxieties while learning the meaning.

If you practise together, invite questions about the words. A child might ask why the dua includes the person making it. Point back to the text: the request includes our own conduct and example as well as our hopes for the family.

The suggestions here are learning activities. Neither verse prescribes a family worksheet, a practice timetable or a reward chart.

Do these duas guarantee a particular result?

This guide makes no such promise. Do not present the duas as formulas that guarantee examination results, a child's future choices or a particular family outcome. The verses provide supplications to learn and understand.

Continue caring for your children, listening to their difficulties and seeking suitable help when needed. Avoid judging another family's faith by the challenges their children face.

Where should you begin today?

Choose the first dua if you want to start with the request about prayer. Read its meaning, then arrange a pronunciation check for the opening phrase. Keep the next step small enough to practise carefully.
